Liu Hao Ran Appears at YOHOOD 2018 for Puma

Liu Hao Ran made a rare public appearance yesterday at YOHOOD 2018 x PUMA! Although his appearance was rather brief, it allowed fans to see his new haircut and hear him speak briefly. We've subbed a short part of his stage appearance, and translated the rest of what he said. Also - lots of pics because haircut!!! (2016 vibes, anyone?)

The YOHOOD 2018 event is held in Shanghai this year, and it is essentially a convention to promote fashion trends/brands/products/pop culture. Various vendors, including fashion brands, accessories, etc., will have their own display and invite celebrity guests to hype up the event. It's actually a three day event, though Hao Ran will only attend one (he's already returned to Beijing) - Puma's got hip hop artists and dancers lined up for the other two days.

For Puma in particular, this event was to promote their new T7 Suede line. For this specific campaign, Liu Hao Ran and Liu Wen (who are two of the six celebrity ambassadors for Puma) were tapped to headline, which is why Liu Hao Ran was asked to attend YOHOOD this year.

Clip of Liu Hao Ran at the event from Puma's official Weibo.

We've subbed a brief part of his short, ten minute appearance on stage.

    Other points mentioned:

  • He wears very casual clothing. In his own words, he's lazy.
  • He mentions that while it might seem like he doesn't have a lot of clothes, he has a lot. It's just that for clothes that he really likes, he often owns multiple articles of the same clothing, sometimes in different colors, and sometimes in the same color
  • Advertisement for Puma - he talked about why he likes the new line and his favorite pieces. Basically, fulfilling his role as a brand ambassador.
  • I posted this on Twitter that fans had mentioned he won't be working for the time being. After watching the video, it's not quite what he said. His exact words are, "I haven't been working very much recently and will be focusing on life/school for the time being."
  • The reason why you see him with a lot of baggy clothing recently (especially when he was filming Novoland: Eagle Flag) is because they needed to have clothing that they could take off/put on easily on set without messing with their wigs or makeup during filming.
  • How has he been enjoying his newfound freedom after filming? He says he's been moving stealthily and going to places that he wants to visit and eat what he wants to eat.
  • The night he got back to Beijing after wrapping up, he visited a restaurant near his house and didn't even bother getting a private room. He just sat at the bar and ate food with a glass of wine. And he felt instantly refreshed and thought, "Ah, I'm Liu Hao Ran again."

Coming up next: We still don't know if Liu Hao Ran will be attending military training at the Central Academy of Drama from September 2-15, but it's likely since he's talked about returning to school. (Update: Okay, yes, he's back at CAD for military training!)

He also has (by my count) done at least 3-4 photoshoots in the last two weeks alone, which means we should see some magazines in the next few months. It's rumored that he's got a cover on YOHO!GIRL soon.

Nominations for the Hundred Flowers Award will be announced September 25.

His birthday is October 10 (and guess which resident LHR blogger is going to be on an international flight that day?).

As far as when he'll start filming again - it's unknown at this point, but it is worthy to point out that when Liu Hao Ran got back from New York last year after filming Detective Chinatown 2, he said he was going to rest (this was around October 20ish). And then he was announced for Novoland: Eagle Flag on November 7. So trust no one, haha - least of all him. (Though he didn't start filming til December because of other obligations - magazine shoots and promotions for Nirvana in Fire 2/Legend of the Demon Cat).

Until next time~

And in case you missed it, here's the Puma commercial for this line starring Liu Hao Ran and supermodel Liu Wen!
