Compilation: Liu Haoran x Kiehl's

Since there's been so much new material from Haoran's Kiehl's endorsement, we thought we would compile everything in a post for your viewing pleasure (seriously, the Kiehl's aesthetics have been so on point). As always, if you're looking for up to date news and translations, make sure to follow us on Twitter as we update on a pretty timely basis there.

(Best viewed on PC as this post is image-heavy.)

Spokesperson Announcement

Haoran was announced as Kiehl's very first (and currently only) brand spokesperson back in September 2018, and is the only male brand spokesperson for one of the top six brands under parent company L'Oreal in China. This was the picture that was recently shared by an employee from L'Oreal China's recent end-of-the-year internal meeting - the six brands pictured are those that surpassed 1 billion (I'm assuming yuan) in Chinese revenue.

We try not to make a big deal out of endorsement deals because they will come and go, but it was pretty cool that Haoran landed this major one (every entertainment media/fashion account was posting about it the day that it was announced). The title of spokesperson (literal translation of 代言人) is notoriously difficult to land for L'Oreal brands in China (just look at the picture above). Usually, the big brands will give ambassador titles (大使) instead.

For some clarification, since the question's come up a couple of times, there are several levels of endorsement titles in C-ent for brands (pretty sure this is exclusive to C-ent just due to the sheer number of celebrities in the industry), which doesn't always translate over to English since the official translation is just "ambassador" for all. Spokesperson signifies the closest brand relationship and is the highest title, followed by brand ambassador, and then special lines/other ambassador names.

Charity Work for Children with Cataracts

But more importantly, one of the most wonderful things about Kiehl's is their charity work with the China Children and Teenager's Fund. For 2018-2019 specifically, they made it their mission to help children with cataracts in poverty-stricken regions.

Here's the subbed video of Haoran talking more about this.

Commercial Shooting in Iceland

In October 2018, Kiehl's sent Haoran to Iceland as part of their new Chinese campaign for their most popular product - the Ultra Facial Cream, which gave us a gorgeous set of photos and the following commercial and BTS vid. Kiehl's even published a limited edition photobook of Haoran as a gift to fans who bought the Ultra Facial Cream set (only available in China).

Kiehl's Brand Event

In January 2019, Haoran attended a Kiehl's product launch conference at the Thaiwoo Ski Resort near Zhangjiakou, Hubei province, where he also got to try snowboarding for the first time. It was said by C-fans that the temperature there was around -20 °C! He held several interviews at the event, and mostly discussed the brand, the Ultra Facial Cream, his trip to Iceland, and most interestingly, finally stopped saying that he didn't have any future work plans (which was mostly PR talk anyways). He admitted that he's working actively now (off vacation!), and that there are projects that haven't been announced yet, and ones that are still on talks.

What we know now: he's been in the recording studio dubbing for Novoland: Eagle Flag, and has also been announced as the Chinese voice for Hiccup in the upcoming release of How To Train Your Dragon 3, which means he will effectively be the face for Chinese promotions of the film. And yes - this totally came out of the blue! The rumor mill says to expect more coming from him soon as well. Looking forward to a 2019 with more surprises from Haoran!
